How to Reprogram NFC Cards

If you've received an NFC Card as part of our swag then this Help Doc will show you how to reprogram it so you can use it for your own purposes.

Please note that there are many apps out there that work to reprogram NFC Cards, but we're going to refer to the one we use. We don't make any money or anything, and we are in no way affiliated with this app or company in any way.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A newer model smartphone that can read NFC chips.

  • The "NFC Tools" app. You can download it from the iOS Store or Google Play Store.

  • The NFC Card you received from us.

STEP 1:

Download the NFC Tools app onto your smartphone. Open it up and click the "Write" button.

STEP 2:

Click the "Add A Record" button.

STEP 3:

Click the "Custom URL" option.

Note: This is the ONLY option that will work on all devices. Other options may not work on certain models of devices.

STEP 4:

Enter your full URL here, including the https:// in the front. Be sure there are no extra spaces before or after the URL you type. Once you are done typing. Click "OK" at the top-right.

You can add any link. Here's some examples...

Any website, Instagram, Link Tree, SoundCloud, Youtube video/channel, Venmo, PayPal, Photo/album link, LinkedIn, Tik Tok, Pinterest, restaurant menu, etc., etc., etc.

STEP 5:

After you click "OK" in the prior step, you will be taken back to this screen. Click the "Write / XX Bytes" button.

Notes:

  • The maximum Bytes you can write is 256 Bytes.

  • Smartphones can only open a single URL.

  • To get the most out of your NFC Card, your URL should point to a special web page that has your Contact Card and other relevant links on it.

STEP 6:

You should see this screen. You may now hold your NFC Card near your smartphone until you see a blue checkmark in the blue circle.

That's it!

To test, exit the app and go to your smartphone's homescreen. Hold the NFC Card near your phone's NFC reader. A notification should pop up on your phone to open the link in your browser app.
